This blog assignment is your opportunity to document last Friday's visit from the Secret Sisters. Here are some questions to consider when writing your post. Please provide at least two paragraphs or more about this special day at DePaul Prep.
What was your overall impression of the band?
What did you come away with from the Q & A session with the band?
How does this event tie into our studies in Guitar 1?
Arianna Jaber:
ReplyDeleteMy overall experience of seeing the secret sisters was amazing I was able to learn so much from them and hear there amazing voices there harmony was perfect. The Q&A part was my second favorite part I wad able to learn that they didn't really party that came a shock to me but also how they feel like there not famous that showed me they were very humble. How this event ties into my guitar one class was they showed us how harmony sounds and how just knowing three strings can do a lot also that singing and playing the guitar takes time and practice!

I picked Bulls On Parade by Rage Against The Machine because I really like the the guitar solo, and it just sounds sick.

ReplyDeleteI was so lucky to see the Secret Sisters at our school. I loved seeing the Secret Sisters perform! It was an awesome experience and fun event to be at. They are such good singers and I loved when they shared their story of auditioning when they were younger. My favorite part was when at the end, the choir joined in and sang with them. It was great to see them sing along with some people from our school. Their voices were amazing and I loved how they can play the guitar and sing at the same time. I hope to have more events like these!

ReplyDeleteI would just like to say that the Secret Sisters was great! They seemed like really nice sisters and had a lot of wisdom and advice to share, which I liked because they weren't arrogant or boastful of their status, they were absolutely great Live, I really enjoyed listening to their harmonic singing; very talented. I admire their modesty and appreciate the fact that they took their time in visiting us and giving a show, I feel like they're on a road to glory, and I hope they don't stop and continue on that road until they've reached their life goals. Also, I really got into country now because of them, country live is actually really good.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet them and have this amazing event with them. I enjoyed everything, and I would like to say that they sing and play really good. The way they sing together it's wonderful, I likes how they interacted with us sharing their experiences so that we could learn from them and also realize that it is a hard work and that it deserves to be recognized. When they were answering some of our questions, I remember when they mentioned that they actually don't practice too often, because they already know each other enough so that they can just follow each other along. This is related to our class because we were just talking about harmony and how one of the tones has a lower voice and that's how the Secret Sisters sing, in harmony. I really hope I can see them again, I loved their songs very much. :)

ReplyDeleteI thought the Secret Sisters were very inspirational. I'm not a fan of country but I thought they sang wonderfully. I thought they were very humble and friendly. I was suprised to hear that they didn't practice very often because their voices go so well together. This ties to Guitar1 because it shows that with practice you can learn to play the guitar and sing at the same time.

ReplyDeleteI thought the Secret Sisters were pretty darn cool. I loved their harmonies and melodies that they had together. I came away with a couple things from the Q/A portion of the concert. The first thing being that being on the road away from home is tough. While you're touring you're away from home and miss the regualr things that you'd be doing if you were there. Also another thing that I learned from the Secret Sisters is to always strive for your dream, whatver it may be. This event tied into our class because we're constantly jamming out on our guitars and they had just showed us how to jam out in a more professional and mellow type.
It was definitely a cool experience to have someone from the music industry come to our school and actually interact with our students. Although I'm not a big fan of country music, they're talent was evident. I also found it really cool of them to give us the "real" story behind behind being on the road. The common misconception is that artists on the road party every night and experiment with drugs and alcohol but they clarified the fact that they actually have to take care of themselves.

ReplyDeleteThat band is so cool !they are very united and work hard,i really like the lead singer of the band, she sings very well,i want to learn from their efforts to practice for guitar 1
John Aluise: I usually do not like country/western music, but the harmony and incredible voices that those two women had might have turned me. Overall, I thought they're performance was spectacular. And the Q & A session was nice and very informative.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't listen to country music but theirs was awesome and different from the other ones. I liked how they were really honest about how life on the road isn't always that great during the Q&A portion of their visit. In all i really liked their visit to our class.
